The Pursuit of God

"A spiritual kingdom lies all about us, enclosing us, embracing us, altogether within reach of our inner selves, waiting for us to recognize it. God himself is here waiting on our response to his presence. This eternal world will come alive to us the moment we begin to reckon upon it's reality."

"Let us say it again: The universal Presence is a fact. God is here. The whole universe is alive with His life. And He is no strange or foreign God, but the familiar Father of our Lord Jesus Christ whose love has for these thousands of years enfolded the sinful race of men. And always He is trying to get our attention, to reveal Himself to us, to communicate with us. We have within us the ability to know Him if we will but respond to his overtures. (And this we call pursuing God!) We will know Him in increasing degree as our receptivity becomes more perfect by faith and love and practice."

Currently Reading...

I heard of this book through a review of A.J. Jacobs' The Year Of Living Biblically. It is very simliar in style. The big difference is A.J. Jacobs is non-practicing Jew and Ed Dobson is a practicing Christian and a pastor. The Year Of Living Like Jesus is written as daily journal entries about trying to live just like Christ did. Ed seems to be very sincere and he has great ideas and insights into the way Christ lived. I am only on page ninety six but I am reading a few chapters a day. So go pick it up. You wont regret it.

What We All Want III

It's messed up because sometimes we want things that are completely opposite of what we need. In fact, a lot of the time in the world today, you find people searching for and seeking out things that are terrible for them.

True Love

There are two extreme viewpoints that I have discovered in the Christian faith. The first being; "I have been forgiven so I can do whatever I want." And the second consists of a super massive amount of rules and regulations which are put in place in order to gain God's approval.

These two view points are polar opposites, very common in the christian community and in my opinion, absolutely backwards. But what I found is a middle ground. A beautiful, warm life that is filled with purpose.

Once you truly discover God's love, all these old creaky doors close and new ones open up. Its so freeing. You'll find true convictions in your life, not rules. And along with that freedom comes complete selflessness. The ten commandments isn't a checklist, it was created to shows us our faults and to show us what will happen when we truly love God and our brothers and sisters. And when you start to find God's love, all those commandments fall into place. It is no longer a burden.

What We All Want II

People look for what they want in all sorts of different things. And they often neglect the things that they need in life. There are a couple of basic things that I think most of us want even if we're not completely aware of the fact that we want those things. I don't know how to communicate that to people. Usually its just something that you learn in time.
